How do you stop squeaking on your violin?
I play violin and I keep screeching and squeaking when I play.
You are speaking of controlling and developing your tone. Newer players tend to screech a bit, because they are more focused on getting the notes and rhythms right. This is okay, as you become stronger you also become aware of your tone and take steps to fix it. This is all about control...you need to control the motion of your bow, its placement on the violin, the angle of it, and the speed. It seems like alot, I know.
When you practice working on your tone, pick a piece you already know well so you aren't focusing on notes. Pick one aspect of your tone at a time...you can't fix it all at once. Keep at it and things will improve, but you always need to be aware of your technique no matter how long you've been doing this.
