Violins violas musical instruments?
I know viola has a larger body than violin, but why does that mean that violas have a deeper sound than violins.

Pitch is how "high" or "low" a note is. Pitch is caused by vibrations. High notes are created by fast vibrations, like the flitting of a mosquito's/fly's wings. Low notes are created by slow vibrations, like the rumbling of a truck. You can even distinctly hear the spaces in between a truck's vibrations because it's so low. But I digress. A string vibrating creates a pitch. The shorter a string is, the faster it can vibrate, so the higher it's note is. The longer a string, the lower the note. Since a viola is longer than a violin, so are it's strings and therefore it can go lower.
