Affordable quality violin for an advanced student?
My 12 year old daughter (oldest of 4 children) has been playing violin for 5 years. We need to buy a full size violin. We would like to get her a good quality violin. Following the facts:
1) We live in San Antonio, TX
2) Have 4 children, 2 girls learning to play piano and violin. One girl learning to play piano. The youngest son is ready to start piano lessons soon.
3) Tight budget since we need to provide for their music lessons and also sports activities.
4) The teacher of the oldest daugher (12 y/o) states she is very good and she needs and deserves a good quality violin. She is very responsible and mature for her age.
I will apprecciate your input and valuable answers.

I bought my violin from String Works in Wisconsin; they've got many good models and will send a few to you to test out for a couple of weeks before you buy one so she can try playing it and get her teacher's opinion. I played mine with a state symphony for a while a few years after I started taking lessons; my teacher thought it was great. They also have a good rental program. Definitely do NOT buy a violin without getting some time to play it first - there are a lot of lemons out there.
