Replacing the Sound Post on my Violin?
My parents brought my violin to China, and I discovered when I opened the case that the sound post came loose. I have to play for my brothers wedding in one week.
According to my research, replacing a sound post seems pretty straightforward, assuming you have the necessary tools and expertise. I am going to contact a violin maker in Beijing tomorrow.
My questions are: How long should it take to replace properly and how much should it cost?
The sound post is in perfect condition, so I am only paying for the actual placement.

To reiterate- I don't mean to "replace" the sound post, but to rather put the soundpost, which is completely separate now, back into the violin
Don't play the instrument until it's fixed. Make sure you go to a good luthier: setting a sound post is a very artistic thing. The luthier may decide to move it to a different position, as the position of the soundpost has everything to do with the sound of the violin. Since it came down, they may want to replace it entirely, I don't know. Shouldn't cost too much.
