Finding the Best Fiddle Teachers in Your Area
You are offered many diverse options in how to learn violin, but having a teacher for private lessons will make a critical difference. Private instruction isn't the only option, but if you take it at least sometimes, you will make regular gains in your skill level.
You may be overall suited more to teaching yourself or group lessons, but sometimes you will hit a wall and stop seeing progress. The reasons vary, but it will usually happen to you at least once. If you have an experienced instructor in your corner, he or she can help you get through plateaus such as these.
When looking for a violin teacher, you need to realize that the bulk of their students come from referrals. This is especially true for less experienced teachers or older ones. On occasion, more well-known violinists will get students based on reputation, but, as you can imagine, such teachers are going to be far more expensive.
To get the most bang for your buck, you may want to begin with less experienced teachers as they are cheaper and most anyone can help you get the basics down. From there you can switch to more experienced teachers as you need them.

Learn how much the lessons will cost you, any references they have, awards they or their students may have been given, their experience, and their style.
