How can i practice the up-bow staccato?!!?
I am working on the Wieniawski Violin Concerto No2 in D minor and i need tips on working ont eh up bow staccato. what's the best way to hold your bow when doing that? i know i should use a metronome and start out slow, but i've been working on this piece for a long time now and i still have trouble..
The bow grip does not change for staccato. It does call for a little added pressure from the first finger as the note starts, then release the pressure.
Play 4 staccato notes down bow with out lifting the bow. then
Play 4 staccato notes up bow with out lifting the bow. alternate this and slowly increase your tempo.
Make sure you understand what staccato means
In musical notation, the Italian word staccato (literally detached) indicates that notes are separated in a detached and distinctly separate manner, with silence making up the latter part of the time allocated to each note.
