Is Irish violin music only ever played in first position?
im looking for some good irish reels, but something that will challenge me, and in all the "look inside pages" it ranges from like the D string to A string. I saw maybe one good book, ranged up to A on E string its called O'Neills music of ireland, published by mel bay. has anyone heard of this and has feedback? i know im being picky but i want something really cool to play when i go to ireland! 
the real challenge to playing irish music is in the speed and energy, not so much the position in which you are playing. reels and jigs are extremely popular in ireland. with the right energy, these reels will sound far more impressive than they seem to you.
