i'm looking to buy a violin, i'm a beginner though.

No, I doubt you could find a violin worth learning on for $100. There are some decent, inexpensive vioins to be had, if matched with a good bow and set up properly, but you need to know what you're looking for and what you're getting.
And you should not be too concerned with brands when shopping for violins.
You need to contact a knowlegeable and reputable dealer or teacher and get advice on choosing a first violin.
A bad instrument will be difficult to learn on and may discourage you from playing at all.
But if you're going to try it on your own, and you're looking at the low end of the market (like I did) I suggest you call the folks at www.folkmusician.com. They are very helpful and give good advice.
