Should I invest in an electric violin or stick with my acoustic one?

I've been playing on my acoustic violin for six years and I just recently joined a band. Is it worth while to invest in an electric one or just stick to my acoustic one? Also, if I want to stick with my acoustic violin, what would I need to be able to play it on an amp?

Wow, that's pretty cool. I guess it depends on what sound the band is going for. I personally think either would be creative as long as you guys are going for an original sound, not many bands incorporate the violin today. If you were to buy an electric one, all you'd need would be a proper amp, and an instrument cable and/or wireless system.

OH, sorry. I misread your question. If you stick with the acoustic one, you'll need an instrument mic and whatever wireless system it comes with.
