Buying Violin?
I am an advancing to intermediate violinst (student) and i would like to get a new/used violin of better quality. The only bad thing is that I want a violin under $400. I know im asking alot with this price, but thats my limit. Any suggestions?
The Violin I want-
I don't want a cheap "over the top shiny" finnish. I would prefer one back highly flamed maple. Also a bow and case.
Go to a reputable local violin shop and try out a bunch of instruments in your price range to find the one that feels and sounds best to YOU.
Quite frankly though if you're looking for a complete outfit (violin, bow and case) for less than $400, I'm not sure how much of an improvement in quality you're going to get over whatever it is you have now for the money you'd be spending.
You might want to consider waiting, saving your money, and looking at violin outfits in the $800 - $1000 range. Then you WILL see a definite improvement in quality over whatever you have now.
